Lake Hildring

Lake Hildring

Greater Coniston is in an area of Second Life often known as The Hidden Lake District. But hwere is the hidden lake???

Nobody knew until 2016 when the dauntless explorer Tess Juel (who is also the editor of this blog but that is sheer coincidence) journey up into the highest regions of Coniston and found Lake Hildring.

Now, of course some may ask, if nobody knew about the lake before 2016, how can the area be named after it ... and how can tehre be a huge medieval castle on an island in the middle of it? Sadly the answers to those questions remain a mystery.

Now, if you dare venture to this secluded spot, you better be careful, most of the ground is virtual. The ground around the entrance point is safe and so is the island and castle. The rest of the land not so.

The entrance point is open to the public and everybody are welcome to visit and enjoy the view. The castle is also open to the public whenever it isn't rented out. You have to figure out how to get there though. (Subtle hint: Second Life avatars can fly even without wings.)

Like all castles in Greater Coniston the one at Lake Jildring was constructed by the famous castle architect Hatris Panacek and it is believed to be her very first work.

Enough talk. Here are some pictures. They don't really do the place justice - at least not the castle. It is jsut too full of lovely details.
