Willow Terrace
Willow Terrace was the very first part of Greater Coniston to be built. It was named after the Grand Old content creator Wazer Windang (who used Willow as display name at that time) who was of immense help during the first stages of the build and is still a very dear friend - and also our oldest tenant. Originall it ran along almost the entire southern border of Coniston, connected to the
Linden Road at each end. Later it was extended a bit eastwards into Buttermere and connected to Moonstone Path there. Willow Terrace is the northernmost street of
North Keswick but it also extends beyond the town boundaries.
Let's tale a stroll down the road, starting in the east.

It's Willow Terrace, so of course we had to have a willow tree there! |
The parth along the chapel follows aproximately the original eastern end of Willow Terrace. |

Chin Rey's Windermere Townhouse series of combined stores and residental houses are used several places at Greater Coniston and elsewhere in Second Life. But this is their original location. Most of the Willow Terrace houses were specially made by Chin Rey for this street even though they are also used many other places. |
The Windermere Townhouse series of Edwardian buidigns was made in parallel with Ex Machina's Victorian Soho series and Chin Rey and Ex Machina owner/designer Hatris Panacek kept discussing ideas. Hatris wanted to add the classic English embedded entrance to some buidings but decided it would be too complicated. So of course Chin Rey had to do it isntead. That's what friends are for isn't it? |
Golden Oriole is one of our favourite Second Life creators and we very overjoyed when we got the chance to open an affiliate store for the brand here. It's only six vendors though so we needed a really small buiding for it. So Chin Rey came up with the Windermere Market, a row of four 6x6 m stores that fit perfectly. |
For some reason one of those four small stores always end up as a coffee shop or bakery no matter who rents it. We're not complaining though, it's the perfect spot for one. :-) |
Chin Rey's Keswick Cottage was one of the very first functional mesh houses in Second Life and again, specially made for Willow Terrace. It comes in countless variants, as single cottages, rowhouses, cornerhouses and lager multistore houses and are found everywhere. Once they lined almost the whole street. Today we have three of the updated current version still in place. |
Mouseplay Park for children of all ages. We need a separate blogpost cor it. Comin soon. |
The original OPQ Garden Center. It eventually outgrew the space we had so we had to move it up in the sky above Coniston. We still keep a display of all the flower beds down on the ground though. |
Yes, Chin Rey's Windermere Cottage was also originally made for Willow Terrace. The original was a bit smaller but one of our firends and long term tenants, Sakia Catnap, wanted an extension with a terrace. Brilliant idea! |
The only house in the street not created by Chin Rey, and of course it's by Willow. This particular house is not for sale anywhere though. It was a gift to us and only found here at Greater Coniston. |
