The Catnap

The Catnap

A good friend, Sakia Catnap, showed us some pictures of a typical small English village - or maybe we should call it a hamlet - with cottages around a central courtyard and lots and lots of flowers.
She asked us to create something similar in Second Life and it fitted so well with the theme of Northwest Buttermere we had to do as she said. :-)

The Catnap has ten large cottages or small houses around the yard and two smaller ones along one of the road leadign down to it. They all use the same wall texture to get the typical look of all hosues being built from stones from the same local quarry. As a nice bonus, reusing textures like that also reduces the lag drastically - a typical win-win situation.

If you walk, you can get to The Catnap up from the Buttermere Quay via Kimmy's Path:

or down from the Linden Road via Moonstone Path:

But don't try to drive through, the road is narrow and the corners are sharp. A bike will do but ry to get a car through and you're askign for trouble.

Did I mention flowers?

This installation was created by another good friend, Sanfroggy Resident, and it's all prims and system vegetation. No mesh and no sculpts! Abasolutely amazing!

Then there are roses of course, lots of them.

For those who really love roses - or really want to show their love with roses:

and here's a closer photo of the center yard, with benches to relax on and a pool full of lilypads.
